Cacti is an open source, web-based graphing tool designed as a frontend to RRDtool's data storage and graphing functionality. Cacti allows a user to poll services at predetermined intervals and graph the resulting data. It is generally used to graph time-series data of metrics such as CPU load and network bandwidth utilization. A common usage is to monitor network traffic by polling data via SNMP.
Take a look at the screen shots of Cacti at the bottom of this page and see how Cacti monitors InfraSensing sensors.
How does it work?
In order to integrate with Cacti a device needs support the SNMP protocol. InfraSensing's new sensors using the SensorGateway* support the SNMP protocol natively. Using simple SNMP get requests Cacti users can query our temperature sensors for real time status. Same applies to our humidity, flooding and power failure sensors.
